Activity Description
Students will write a "postcard home" about the Umsted field trip. The postcard should include a picture collage portraying photos taken throughout the trip and the message will be written in verse. Students may compose an original poem about the park, conveying something learned from the historic hike, the cemetery visits, or the guest speaker. The language arts teacher will teach types of figurative language, poetic devices, and several poem frames before the field trip. Students will have written poetry before going on this trip.
